A chat with Alice Pomfret, founder of Nozza News

Nozza News is an amazing independently ran newsletter and newspaper helping champion all things indie within our fine city of Norwich. More recently, they have produced wonderful maps of Norwich that give you the insiders guide to local food and thrift spots. We are loving what Nozza News is all about, so we caught up with Alice, the founder, to learn more about who they are and what they do!

Tell us a bit about yourself

Hello, I'm Al and I run nozza news a monthly newsletter and quarterly newspaper shouting about everything indie happening in our city nozza. You might know me from akin magazine our old magazine shop, we've moved onto new things and now create work under the name of a design practice, specifically focusing on designing simply beautiful publications for our clients up and down the UK.

What made you set up your own business?

I first set up nozza news during the dreaded lockdown, it was a place to tell people about new businesses opening and how to find their much loved locals online. I've always seen the power in local communities and wanted nozza news to be a platform to champion community over competition, always. There was a gap in the market for a regular, fun, down to earth community shouting about locals.

Who is part of your team?

Our 'team' as such is predominantly me, but we've just taken on Fay on a freelance basis to help with nozza news, we've got some big plans for the future so needed some extra hands on deck.

What are your plans for the future?

nozza news' future is so bright, we're looking forward to growing our community, helping support and tell the stories of locals. We have a few things in the pipeline including a few more maps as part of our nozza navigator series, and some things we're keeping secret for the time being.

What's the best thing about the area you live in?

Probably the people, it's great to head into town and bump into friendly faces along the way. nozza has such a supportive community for independent creatives / business owners and that support system is super valuable. At least you know if you're having a rubbish day, there will always be someone who gets it.
